{"id":1130,"date":"2025-02-19T09:48:07","date_gmt":"2025-02-19T09:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lida-vets.co.uk\/news\/?p=1130"},"modified":"2025-02-19T09:59:59","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T09:59:59","slug":"1130-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lida-vets.co.uk\/news\/1130-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Rescue cat&#8217;s &#8216;purrfect&#8217; future after procedures performed in nick of time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nick the rescue cat is now \u2018feline fine\u2019 after we performed multiple urgent procedures on his teeth and eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Little Nick was among six cats rescued from a hoarding situation by Fordham Boarding Cattery, which also carries out independent cat rescue work, while the challenging operations took place at Lida vets.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Fordham Boarding Cattery and Lida Vets, Nick\u2019s quality of life has dramatically improved to the extent that he is now enjoying living with new owners and can look forward to a safe and secure life.<\/p>\n<p>Cristian Istodor, veterinary surgeon at Lida Vets, led the surgeries and was assisted by fellow veterinary surgeon Monisha Kowshik.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cNick\u2019s eyes were closed because of chronic discharge and it was clear he would need an operation on his eyelids, known as entropion surgery, to improve his quality of life.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1136\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lida-vets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/nick-before-after.webp\" alt=\"lida-vets-rescued-cat-nick-before-after\" width=\"550\" height=\"476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lida-vets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/nick-before-after.webp 550w, https:\/\/www.lida-vets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/nick-before-after-300x260.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also had to remove all of his teeth over two operations and, while this may sound severe, it actually gives the patient a new lease of life by relieving a lot of pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Keren Goff, who owns and runs Fordham Boarding Cattery with her husband Trevor, said: \u201cCristian has operated on several of our rescue cats and, on the day of the surgeries, the care provided was excellent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a very proficient vet and skilled surgeon who also understands the challenges faced whilst caring for rescue cats who are not particularly handleable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNick has now left us for his new home after his recovery.
