Lida Vets has been caring for pets in Newmarket since 1991. Founded by husband-and-wife Josh and Liz Lida, the practice began with just two rooms at 166 High Street before expanding into the neighbouring building in 1992.
The building itself has seen more than two centuries of Newmarket life. The site was previously home to small houses, a workshop, an Electricity Board station and later an oil research firm before being transformed into the veterinary practice our clients know today.
Over the years, Lida Vets has continued to grow and develop its services. The reception was extended and renovated in December 2015, before Lida Vets joined the Linnaeus Group in October 2018 following the retirement of Josh Lida.
Today, our Newmarket vet clinic combines that long local history with modern veterinary facilities and a friendly, personal approach to pet care. We provide routine and emergency care for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters and other small animals, supported by an experienced veterinary team and extensive facilities under one roof.
Lida Vets is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as a Tier 2 Veterinary Practice, successfully passing its latest accreditation in 2025. We are also a Gold level Cat Friendly Clinic, with facilities and handling practices designed to make visits more comfortable for our feline patients.
